In a bombshell revelation, emails between a Burisma Representative and high ranking members of the U.S. State Department reveal the leverage and reference of then-Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden, who was serving as a board member of the Ukrainian oil and gas firm despite no relevant experience.
John Solomon reports, “Hunter Biden and his Ukrainian gas firm colleagues had multiple contacts with the Obama State Department during the 2016 election cycle.” One of which occurred just weeks before Joe Biden admittedly pressured the Ukrainian government into firing a prosecutor investigating Burisma.
Emails obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit reveal “a U.S. representative for Burisma Holdings sought a meeting with Undersecretary of State Catherine A. Novelli to discuss ending the corruption allegations” levied by the government at the time. In fact, during one such email Hunter Biden’s name was specifically referenced and used as justification for a meeting with Undersecretary Novelli, who was the highest ranking U.S. official handling this matter.
According to the emails between State Department officials, “[Tramontano] noted that two high profile U.S. citizens are affiliated with the company (including Hunter Biden as a board member).” Though we cannot derive intent, there’s little doubt that this message would not have been elevated to this level if the company did not have a Biden on its board.
“Tramontano would like to talk with U/S Novelli about getting a better understanding of how the U.S. came to the determination that the company is corrupt. According to Tramontano there is no evidence of corruption, has been no hearing or process, and evidence to the contrary has not been considered,” one such email read. Solomon writes that Tramontano was the U.S. based lobbyist hired by Burisma.
Solomon adds, “the emails show Tramontano was scheduled to meet Novelli on March 1, 2016, and that State Department officials were scrambling to get answers ahead of time from the U.S. embassy in Kiev.” Though, “the records don’t show whether the meeting actually took place.”
Hunter Biden’s business partner, and fellow Burisma board member, Devon Archer met with Secretary of State John Kerry on March 2nd, 2016. Keep in mind, the Burisma Representative reached out to the State Department regarding the Burisma matter on February 24th. Joe Biden’s now infamous pressurized firing occurred at an unknown date in March 2016.
Default reporting had been Biden’s decision to get Viktor Shokin fired was not due to his connection to his son, Hunter. However, with the emergence of these emails, questions about the timeline and whether connections between Burisma and Joe Biden had anything to do with his decisions on the matter continue to grow.
