This 4th of July, if you planned on watching Trump’s ‘Salute to America’ parade, you’ll have to find a station other than ABC, NBC, MSNBC, or CBS. Those networks confirmed to The Daily Mail that they will not air the event live in its entirety, if at all, this Independence Day.
While ABC, NBC, and CBS refuse to broadcast any part of the massive parade or the remarks made by Trump afterwards, MSNBC may still show clips during regularly scheduled programs.
CNN has not commented on whether they plan on airing the event.
ABC decided to carry on with its regular programming of World News Tonight with David Muir and Jeopardy! instead of airing the event live.
NBC will have on NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt and Extra during the time slot and CBS will run its nightly newscast and Inside Edition. The Daily Mail
C-Span and Fox, which slated a 2-hour special hosted by Bret Baier for the celebratory march, will both broadcast the entire event live.
The ‘Salute to America’ was touted by Trump as something nobody has ever seen before. The President had been preparing all week to have military vehicles, including tanks and jet flyovers, parade throughout the National Mall in the DC area to advertise America’s military prowess. The idea for this came after Trump witnessed a military parade during an early trip to France over a year ago. It is intended to “honor each of the nation’s five service branches.”
The Ronald Reagan National Airport will be briefly shut down to accommodate the “biggest fireworks ever.” The parade will end at the Lincoln Memorial with a speech from the Commander in Chief.
Though CBS, NBC, and ABC will not share the event live on TV, they will broadcast it online.
Many Democrats criticize the President’s decision to host military vehicles as a militarization and politicization of a day which marks our independence from the British. Many have also called it a huge waste of taxpayer money for Trump’s vanity project.
The event will begin at 6:30 PM Eastern.
